Stefan Betke owed his initial success to an accident: after dropping his Waldorf 4-Pole filter, he used the malfunctioning machine's hisses and crackles as the basis for a series of glitchy dub electronica albums – released, appropriately enough, under the name Pole. Though his working methods have changed since then, Betke hasn't lost his taste for warm, immersive digital dub, which he'll be serving up live at Unit this weekend. He's accompanied by DJ Barbara Preisinger, who was his partner in the now-defunct ~scape electronica label.
