Paul Kalkbrenner's performance as a techno DJ who ends up in a psychiatric hospital in 2008 cult fave Berlin Calling may have gained him widespread recognition, but he was already a big name on the city's club circuit by that point. While many of his peers were content simply to spin other people's tracks, Kalkbrenner built his reputation on his impressive live club sets, incorporating synthesizers and drum machines into the mix. He arrives here fresh from releasing a new album, Guten Tag, the second full-length to come via his own Paul Kalkbrenner Musik label.
