The late Jacques Demy (1931 – 1990) is one of the most loved French filmmakers of the 20th century, having directed classic musicals like The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964) and The Young Girls of Rochefort (1967). Organised in cooperation with La Cinémathèque Française, this exhibit surveys his life and work through a collection of documents, photos and art, including pieces by Demy himself. His 1979 film Lady Oscar, a French-Japanese production based Riyoko Ikeda's manga The Rose of Versailles, will also be screened during the exhibition period.
