Also known as the Tokyo International Lesbian and Gay Film Festival, Rainbow Reel is back with a selection of new and interesting films on sexual minorities, including April Mullen's 2016 indie drama Below Her Mouth, Fathers, a Thai film exploring the life of gay parents, and Signature Move, Jennifer Reeder's comedy-drama which depicts a romance between a Pakistani and a Mexican-American woman (including quite a bit of pro wrestling). 11 films will be shown in the main section, while the programme also includes a six-film shorts programme courtesy of the Asia Pacific Queer Film Festival Alliance (APQFFA), and the Rainbow Reel Competition, which features six Japanese LGBT-related flicks (the full programme can be found here). Screenings take place at Shinjuku's Cinem@art between July 18 and 14, and at Spiral Hall in Omotesando between July 14 and 17. All non-English language films are screened with English subtitles.
