Probably the most preternaturally talented filmmaker since Orson Welles, Quebec’s Xavier Dolan is only 26 but has already directed five feature films – four of which have premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. Shibuya's Uplink now puts on a special programme to mark the Japan release of Mommy, Dolan's chronicle of the turbulent relationship between an unhinged teenager and his brash single mother, showing the director's entire resume over two weeks. Debut piece I Killed My Mother (2009) and 2010 drama Heartbeats are shown throughout the event period, while Laurence Anyways (2012) will be screened on April 20, 21 and 23, and Tom at the Farm (2013) on April 20, 22 and 24.
