Time Out says

They'll be swingin' into the New Year at Pit Inn: in what's become an annual tradition, the Shinjuku jazz den is staying open until 4.30am, with over 40 veteran musicians taking part in the festivities. The countdown slot is given over to a session featuring sax player Naruyoshi Kikuchi, drummer Yasuhiro Yoshigaki and guitarist Motohiko Ichino, among others, though there's a wide range of acts appearing over the course of the night. Reedsman Kazutoki Umezu gets things off to an ebullient start with his Komaccha klezmer band, while you'll want to stick around after midnight to catch the grooving Josei Trio and off-kilter standards ensemble Orquesta Libre. As an added bonus, punters are free to come and go as they like – perfect if you're hoping to sneak off for a spot of hatsumode at nearby Hanazono Shrine.
