You could never accuse Damo Suzuki of being a slacker. The former vocalist for revered German avant-rock act Can has spent nearly three decades on a never-ending world tour, in which he tangles with a different set of musicians in each city he visits. An extended stint in Japan has already seen Suzuki joust with punks, free jazzmen and psychedelic rockers, but this might be his most challenging date. Black XXX features a host of avant-garde beatsmiths and noise makers, among them freaked-out vocalist Fuyuki Yamakawa, turntable maestro L?K?O and striplight-wielding ear assaulter Atsuhiro 'Optrum' Ito. Should be odd, and then some.
