Two months after he supported Friendly Fires at Studio Coast, singer-producer Hugo Manuel returns to Tokyo with his solo Chad Valley project – and his old bandmates. The members of Trophy Wife used to play with Manuel in intricate indie-rock group Jonquil before devoting themselves full-time to their current band, which they describe (rather wonderfully) as 'ambitionless office disco'. They should sit nicely alongside Chad Valley's own material, which sounds something like chillwave icon Tory y Moi taking a holiday in Ibiza. Support on the first night comes from delicate indie/post-rock trio Soarings, followed by Nagoya electro-pop duo One Day Diary on the Sunday.
