Cults

It's a good thing that promoters Creativeman have booked a support act for Cults' first ever Japan show: the New York duo's eponymous debut album is all the material they've got so far, and it clocks in at less than 35 minutes. With their Jonestown references and glassy re-appropriations of early-'60s pop, Cults turned into instant music blog stars when they posted a trio of songs on their Bandcamp page in 2010, and went on to ink an album deal with Columbia. But after two years of near-constant touring and promotion, they're probably looking forward to writing a few songs that they haven't already played a gazillion times. They're joined at Unit by Sohei Numata, aka Olde Worlde, a singer-songwriter with a healthy taste for skewed retro gestures himself.
