Furo Matsuri

Kichijoji's Furo Rock – a public bathhouse that also held occasional gigs – had to abandon its musical ambitions last March following noise complaints from the neighbours. The organisers haven't given up, though: they're mounting a larger concert featuring some of the sento's alumni. Poppy post-rock duo Kicell and experimental guitarist Yoshihide Otomo are both veterans of the bathtubs, and Zazen Boys frontman Shutoku Mukai also did a solo acoustic slot there. Electronica wunderkind Oorutaichi will be playing, too, while it looks like Otomo will be collaborating with tabla player U-Zhaan and tap-dancer Kazunori Kumagai – an intriguing prospect, if ever we heard one.
