Hibikisai 2011 Tokyo

Sure, there are other music festivals going on this weekend, but Hibikisai has got an edge over all of them: girl power. Started two years ago by indie group I-Rabbits and now held in both Tokyo and Nagoya, the festival features exclusively female artists or female-fronted bands. Though the music is being spread across three venues over the course of the afternoon, it doesn't look like the most varied of lineups: expect plenty of pop-punk variations, including Fly Sleep Fly (melodic emo pop-punk?), Who the Bitch (Shonen Knife-punk), Midnight Pumpkin (ska pop-punk) and Head Speaker (pop-pop-punk), plus the odd bit of rock and emo.
