New wave survivors Hikashu must have a hard time finding collaborators who are as weird as they are. For the first in a planned series of concerts titled Taiwa no Kanosei (rough translation: potential for dialogue), they've hooked up with a musician who's a few decades their junior, laptop maverick Oorutaichi. It should be a good match, too: the electronica whizkid's 2011 album Cosmic Coco, Singing for a Billion Imu’s Hearty Pi demonstrated a talent for vocal gibberish and genre collisions that could almost be passed off as a descendent of Hikashu's pioneering avant-pop experiments.
