Johnny Winter

Once touted as a successor to Jimi Hendrix, albino bluesman Johnny Winter never quite lived up to the lofty expectations placed on him, though he's still carved an impressive niche for himself as one of the most nimble-fingered axemen in blues rock. Prior to his headlining appearance at Sunday's outdoor Japan Blues & Soul Carnival show, he'll be heading to Zepp DiverCity for a gig of his own. Slide guitar virtuoso Sonny Landreth – who guested on Winter's most recent album, Roots – will also be appearing.
