Koenji Pop Festival

For all the howls of protest about the recent crackdown on nightclubs and unlicensed dancing, there's been very little musical response to the crisis. Local indie imprint Call And Response Records flips the bird at officialdom with its new compilation, titled Dancing After 1AM in reference to the 'crime' being so vigilantly policed in Osaka and elsewhere. Nearly half of the bands featured on the album will be hitting Higashi-Koenji 20000V for the release party this weekend, ranging from restrained post-punk duo She Talks Silence (pictured) to synth-wielding combos Jebiotto! and Mir. But will anybody dare to dance?
