Los Campesinos!

Los Campesinos! must have known they were headed for the indie big leagues when they landed a support slot for Broken Social Scene in 2006. Much like that Canadian supergroup, this Welsh septet have shown a tendency to sprawl over the course of their four albums (well, more like three if you buy the argument that 2008's We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed was actually a really long EP). The recently released Hello Sadness is their darkest offering to date – the result of singer and lyricist Gareth heading to the studio just after a break-up – though it also includes some stirring anthems, especially lead single 'By Your Hand'. They're heading to Tokyo for a one-off album launch gig, though don't be surprised to see this lot again at one of the big music fests next summer.
