Time Out says

'I think of jazz as a more advanced form of blues,' mused Oz Noy recently, neatly encapsulating the appeal of his latest album. In Twisted Blues: Volume 1, the Israeli-born, New York-based guitarist applies his jazz-fusion chops to the legacy of Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn (whose old bandmates, Chris Layton and Reese Wynams, even pop up on a few tracks). No mere genre exercise, the album births some intriguing hybrids, while also finding time for radical new takes on tunes by Thelonius Monk and The Meters. Noy brings the his Twisted Blues Tour to Tokyo this weekend, playing a pair of dates at Pit Inn with organist Jerry Z and drummer Joel Rosenblatt.
