In the world of indie guitar bands, there's a fine line separating the up-and-coming from the also-rans. The second edition of this showcase organised by Summer Sonic promoters Creativeman follows the example of the first one in featuring acts who've yet to make it past the smaller stages on the music festival circuit – and, in fact, might never get that far. Manchester lads Airship's 2011 debut, Stuck in This Ocean, aimed for Doves-esque anthemic grandeur but came across a little bland, while Londoners S.C.U.M. have yet to transcend the sum of their '80s art-rock influences. Proggy Welsh weirdos Islet have already gained a reputation as an intense live band, making them probably the most appealing act on the bill, though they're all at risk of being overshadowed by local rockers White Ash, who are tipped for big things in 2012.
