Tiala/Super Dumb

Here's a sweet-and-sour pairing, if ever we saw one. Tiala combine the jagged guitars and jerking rhythms of post-punk with the sweat-drenched intensity of the best hardcore, making them a thrilling (and, yeah, slightly scary) live band. The same thing might have been said about Super Dumb at one point, but this former hardcore group have since undergone a Bad Brains-style conversion to roots reggae – and they do it rather well.
