It's one of the paradoxes of the 'world music' scene (a nebulously defined genre, if ever there was one) that all those fans of salsa, Afrobeat and Thai pop rarely stop to consider the music of their own countries. The first edition of Tokyo Wasshoi! attempts to address that, in an evening of Japanese roots music featuring 'matsuri rock' band Aragehonzi, live taiko drumming and DJ sets by music journalist Hajime Oishi and club veteran Kenta Kazamatsuri.
