Two Hundred Birds

Each Christmas, the citizens of Osaka are treated to a festive performance by local spinner DJ Yoku and his A Hundred Birds Orchestra – a more than 30-strong ensemble playing dancefloor-ready house music. Obviously the logistics of bringing the band to Tokyo don't really bear thinking about, but Yoku has come up with a neat solution by recruiting a local version, Two Hundred Birds. The name's a bit misleading, seeing that this group numbers just five musicians – plus veteran backing singers Amazons (pictured) – but that should be enough to get the capital's party people grooving. Support acts Cro-Magnon and Deep Cover will keep things in a club jazz vein, with VJ support from retina-blasting duo Deadboyz.
