There's not much room for error in Uhnellys' world: using minimal instrumentation and some dextrous live sampling, vocalist/ guitarist/ trumpeter Kim and drummer Midi are forever teetering on the brink of disaster as they whip up their trademark blend of avant-blues and hip hop. A bravura live act, they're also getting more adept at capturing their sound on record: last year's To Too Two was their most impressive to date. They'll be celebrating the release of the eponymous follow-up this weekend, at a two-room gig spread across Shibuya basement venues Lush and Home. Support for the night includes newly slimmed-down Osaka group Yolz in the Sky, singer-songwriter Leo Imai and 16-piece instrumental band Gaka, while Kim will also be sitting in on a jam session at the start of the evening.
