Time Out says

The music propagated by the 4AD label during the mid-'80s seems to have become a template for an entire sub-genre of today's indie scene, but few have managed to inhabit those hazy sonic realms as well as Violens. This Brooklyn three-piece are hardly the first act to replicate the reverb-drenched dreaminess of the Cocteau Twins et al., but they've got a knack for melody – and some inventive, Johnny Marr-esque guitar lines – that sets them apart from many of their copyist peers. They arrive in Tokyo in support of their recently released sophomore effort, True, with support from local acts Soaring and Circe on Saturday, and Organic Stereo and Aureole on Sunday.
