This new eatery on the ground floor of Grownd Nihonbashi serves hot, made-to-order sandwiches in the former premises of long-established Edo-mae sushi restaurant Janoichi Honten.
After trading here for over 130 years, the sushi restaurant recently relocated to Nihonbashi-Muromachi, but the building’s interior and exterior have been kept as they were, giving the café a distinctive old-school look. You’ll feel like you’re in a traditional sushi restaurant, complete with a counter that seats about half a dozen people.
Hot Sand Lab Mili doesn’t do ordinary sandwiches. It features a range of flavours showcasing special ingredients, like the umeboshi and mackerel sandwich (¥700) featuring pickled plum from Wakayama umeboshi specialists Ume Boys, a classic tamago sando (egg sandwich, ¥700) using a fluffy egg omelette from Janoichi Honten, and a chicken mayo tuna melt sandwich (¥800)with high quality mayo from Kumasan Farm in Akita.
The shop is completely cashless, so make sure to bring your credit card, IC transport card, or another form of electronic money when you visit.
