One of autumn's first major food festivals in Tokyo will probably also be one of the smelliest: bring a plentiful stock of mints to Kabukicho, where garlic gourmet of multitudinous varieties can be sampled over seven days. The menu ranges from Spanish and Chinese grub to Hawaiian and Japanese delicacies – we're thinking a wonderful mixture of paella, ramen, gyoza and garlic shrimp. Eager imbibers will also be happy to hear that the booze is half off on weekdays between 11am and 6pm.
