Nobody Knows offers virtual tours that take you to Japan’s heritage sites and introduce you to local traditional performing arts. In 2019, the project originally offered in-person tours to six different locations, however, in 2020 Nobody Knows shifted its focus to a digital programme due to the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic.
Now, you can enjoy local history, culture and traditional performing arts from the comfort of your home. By virtually following the guide and some local guests and listening to their conversations, you’ll feel like part of the trip. Everything is explained in an easy-to-understand way and most of the videos feature English subtitles, such as this visit to Mt Oyama in Kanagawa prefecture including a nihon buyo dance and shamisen (three-stringed Japanese lute) performance.
