Time Out says

See some ukiyo-e art from the Edo period narrating the history of the Sumida River, which served as an important waterway transporting people and goods across the country. The privately owned boats, which ply the river, usually carried wealthy folks who lived lavish lives, and thus featured on-board entertainment like shamisen and other musical performances. Similarly, as a nod to this historical fact, the exhibition will hold live performances of traditional Japanese music to give you the full Edo-era boat experience while you admire the paintings.
