30th Chofu Fireworks Festival

If you got to the end of the summer only to realise that you hadn't been to a single fireworks display, you aren't the only one. It was probably with an eye on such no-hopers (and the crowded summer schedule) that Chofu decided a few years ago to move its own festival from July to October. There'll be approximately 9,000 fireworks launched in the course of the 70-minute display, held on the banks of the Tamagawa River.
