Ginza’s Art Aquarium Museum celebrates goldfish as living pieces of art and is a popular destination for its seasonal events. The latest event, called ‘Winter Goldfish Glittering in the Light’, runs until December 26 and features a beautiful ten-metre-long tunnel lined by 14 lantern-inspired fish tanks. It’s also decorated with large Christmas baubles and fir branches.
At the end of the tunnel, you’ll find the ‘Bamboo Forest of Goldfish’, an installation with fish swimming in bamboo cane-shaped tanks. A beautifully decorated Christmas tree takes pride of place in the centre of this display.
There’s also the ‘Goldfish Corridor’, a space inspired by the colonnade row of columns often seen in classical temple architecture. This area is decked out in Herrnhut Christmas stars, which originated at the beginning of the 19th century in the German city of Herrnhut. Also make sure you don’t miss the stunning flower installation that incorporates round fish tanks and poinsettias.
The museum is open daily from 10am to 7pm.
