Is the Matcha Beer Garden not doing it for you? Head to the roof of Kichijoji's Tokyu for this summer's most out-there open-air boozing opportunity, headlined by beer and pub grub made with euglena, a species of micro-algae that's part animal, part plant and supposedly very nutritious. Produced by a research group at Tokyo University, the little green wonder can be savoured in sud form as well as in a sauce served with sirloin roast beef, or even as part of taco rice. It can't be that terrible, can it?

Note that the beer garden closes in the event of rain.
