Those Friday night demonstrations outside PM Yoshihiko Noda's residence were just a warm-up for what's going to happen this Sunday evening. The Metropolitan Coalition Against Nukes – the organisers of said protests – claim that 14,000 people turned up to form a human chain around the Diet building four months ago, on the first anniversary of the March 11 disasters. Given how many people have been participating in recent anti-nuclear demos, however, they might well attract more than that when they return to Kasumigaseki this weekend. Protestors will be gathering at Hibiya Park's south-west Naka-Saiwai Gate at 3.30pm, with a parade due to start an hour later, though the human chain (complete with candles) won't begin to form until 7pm.
