More than a hundred up-and-coming female creatives gather every year at the Shibukaru Festival, which has served as a hub of activity for local artists since 2011. But this year's edition will be a little different, mainly due to the August closing of Parco, around which the celebration used to centre. Instead of the usual week-long programme, Shibukaru 2016 will see only one day of music, fashion, film and other cultural events – an arrangement that probably won't sound so terrible to those Tokyoites who used to have a hard time figuring out what's actually worth seeing at this most amorphous of happenings. Head to Club Quattro on the day for a real bonanza of creativity, and keep an eye out for work by some of the participating artists all around Shibuya between October 15 and 21.
