Some of Yoyogi Park's nationally themed fests do a better job of staying on message than others. Although the annual Vietnam Festival can always be counted on to supply ample quantities of bánh mì, 333 Beer and pho, its lineup of live entertainment is rather more schizophrenic. There'll be appearances by V-pop singers both young (Phuong Vy) and not-so-young (Dan Truong), plus a variety of local musicians with some kind of connection to Vietnam – but how do you explain the presence of Goth-Loli act Die Milch or Queen tribute band Gueen? Probably best not to ask too many questions and take it as it comes.
