Did someone say Beaujolais? Getting the jump on their French rivals by a couple of weeks, the winemakers of Yamanashi Prefecture will be launching their new vintages this weekend, at a two-day festival of booze in Hibiya Park. The eponymous Yamanashi Nouveau uses a blend of muscat and the indigenous koshu grapes, and you'll be able to sample over 60 varieties from 36 different vineyards, accompanied by a selection of seasonal food – oh, and some horrendous queues.
