What is it?
A majestic castle nestled in the rolling Cotswolds countryside, where history, romance, and stunning gardens collide. It also has an award-winning adventure playground to keep the kids entertained.
Why is it famous?
This place has serious royal creds — it’s the only private castle in England with a queen buried on site (Katherine Parr, Henry VIII’s last wife, FYI). With over a millennium of stories woven through its walls, from medieval drama to Tudor intrigue, Sudeley’s also famed for its jaw-dropping gardens — ten in total — that look absolutely lush whatever the season. And its beauty has certainly made the site a favourite among film crews, too. Beauty and the Beast, Martin Chuzzlewit and Tess of the D'Urbervilles all have scenes shot at Sudeley.
