The planet’s greatest patty-and-bun combos have been crowned for 2026 – and over a dozen UK burgers made the cut

If you weren’t already craving a good-old fashioned burger – juicy patty, pickles, toasted sesame buns, mustard, the works – then we guarantee you will be now.
That’s because the team behind the World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants has revealed its latest ranking of the 101 Best Burger Places in the world. And a whopping 14 of those in the 2026 list are in the UK.
If anyone’s fit to judge a good burger, it’s these guys. Each year, a range of culinary experts, chefs, food journalists and certified meat specialists evaluate over 1,500 of the planet’s burgers to establish which ones make the cut. Alongside the taste of the burgers, they take into account factors such as quality, service, bun-to-patty ratio and hospitality, cutting through the hype to find the ones actually worth eating. In a world of very average burgers, it’s important work.
It turns out the majority of Britain’s top-ranking patties are in London, with 12 out of the 14 British burgers on the list found in the Big Smoke. In fact, the World’s 101 Best Burger Places 2026 announced that you can actually find the best burger in the whole world at the capital's very own Bleecker. You can read all about why Bleecker Burger claimed the top spot here, but in a nutshell, the judges thought it was about as perfect as a patty gets. In the words of World’s Best Burger Places, Bleecker’s burger was: ‘Bold, direct and unapologetically flavour-first. No distractions. No decoration. Just identity.’
Outside of London, Salt Shed in Brighton came in at a solid number 20. This isn’t the first time that Salt Shed has topped the list. Last year, the seaside joint also came in at number 20 on the Best Burger Places rankings and in 2024 their London joint was even awarded the world’s best burger. The fact that Salt Shed has gained a spot on the list for the past three years gives us a pretty good indication it’s well worth a visit.
You can find Salt Sheds in the Brighton Laines (111 Church St, BN1 1UD) or at the West Pier on the Brighton sea front (91-96, Kings Road Arches, BN1 2FN). Londoners can also find Salt Shed’s concession in Box Park (Unit 53, 2-10 Bethnal Grn Rd, E1 6GY).
The other UK spot that made the list was El Perro Negro in Scotland. Incredibly, this makes it the first Scottish restaurant to ever make the top 101, and the only one on the list in 2026. Since 2014, El Perro Negro has championed grass-fed, dry-aged British beef, sourced with care and cooked with precision – and it’s clearly working.
You can find them at their flagship store in Glasgow’s West End (52 Woodlands Rd, G3 6LF) or at Bonnie & Wild Scottish Marketplace in Edinburgh (St James Quarter, EH1 3AE).
Other London-based burger joints that made the list include Black Bear Burger at number two, known for its signature meaty patties, Hawksmoor St Pancras in seventh place and Burger and Beyond at number 11.
Here are all the British burgers that featured in the list, with their placement in the top 101.
