Michelin’s gourmands added a dozen restaurants in the UK and Ireland to the gastronomic guide last month

If you’re as obsessed with seeking out the country’s best restos as we are, you probably know the drill by now. Each month, Michelin’s ever-hungry inspectors serve up a list of restaurants up and down the country which they’ve deemed delectable enough to be added to its prestigious gastronomic guide.
We’ve already picked through the four London restaurants which made their way onto the acclaimed list in July, which span Japanese, Indian, Greek and British cuisine. As for the rest of the country, well, seven UK venues joined the ranks of Michelin-recommended restaurants in July, plus one in the Republic of Ireland.
Modern British food was in the spotlight last month, with four of the listed eateries – elda in Norfolk, the Chagford Inn in Devon, Glasgow bistro Eleven Fifty Five and The Cock in Hitchin all serving up a UK-rooted style of cuisine.
Sheffield’s ELM was also in the spotlight, a café by day and restaurant by night serving up seasonal plates using fresh local produce. Boston Spa’s Inlamentation also made the list, plating up an ever-changing creative menu in a tiny 16-seater space.
