Spring might be right around the corner, but it’s not time to wave goodbye to the bad weather just yet. After days of snow and ice up and down the country, we can now expect torrential rain and potential flooding.
A yellow weather warning is in place for rain across parts of the UK today, with persistent downpours expected in Central, Tayside and Fife, Strathclyde, South West Scotland and the Lothian borders, as well as north-west England, Yorkshire and the Humber, East Midlands, West Midlands and Wales.
The Met Office has also issued warnings for spray and flooding on roads, and the downpours are expected to cause difficult travel conditions for drivers. The warnings for rain are in force until 3pm today, with six flood warnings and 33 lesser flood alerts currently in place across parts of England.
If you’re living in the south or east of the country, there’s a good chance you’ll narrowly miss out on the wet weather: the south-east of England will likely experience drier conditions, with only a spot of rain here and there. But we’d still recommend packing your brolly – just in case.
