As any devoted watchers of hit TV crime drama ‘The Bay’ will no doubt already know, the show’s setting is totally spectacular. So spectacular, in fact, that the series is essentially named after it (it being the flat, wet sands of Morecambe Bay in Lancashire).

‘The Bay’ returned for its fourth season yesterday (March 8) and, just like the last one, it sees Marsha Thomason take the starring role as DS Jenn Townsend. As in the previous seasons, Morecambe also takes centre stage. Here’s everything you need to know about ‘The Bay’ and its filming locations.

Where was ‘The Bay’ filmed?

Morecambe and its surrounding bay provide the setting for pretty much all of ‘The Bay’. According to i, the show makes use of the Victorian and Georgian buildings along its promenade, including The Midland Hotel. Morecambe Beach and its stone jetty also feature prominently throughout all four seasons.

However, the show also makes use of plenty of Morecambe’s backstreets, as well as the town’s clock tower. The town police station features too, though according to the The Sun, the interior scenes were shot in a disused police station in Manchester.

Where can I watch the show?

‘The Bay’ is broadcast on Wednesdays at 9pm on ITV1. It’s also available to stream online via ITVX here.
