The consumer-owned chain has confirmed new store locations for February and March 2026

Co-op members (and general fans of the bright blue supermarket chain), heads up – the group’s retail arm is expanding. Co-op has revealed plans to open more than a dozen new UK supermarket locations over the next couple of months.
A grand total of 18 Co-ops will open in the first quarter of 2026 (ie before the end of March). Some of the stores will be brand new, while others are set to reopen following major refurbs.
The Co-op is one of the world’s biggest consumer-owned co-operatives and dates back over 180 years. These days it has around 7 million active member-owners and over 2,300 food stores across the UK.
Co-op’s first brand-new store of 2026 will be at Willowbrook Park in Didcot (Oxfordshire), while the first re-opened, upgraded locations will be at Eastern Green in Coventry and Ealing in London.

Opening dates are yet to be confirmed.
Commenting on the openings, Co-op operations director Kate McCrae said: ‘We’re focussed on creating local stores which are more than just a shop – they are a hub locally that contribute to local life and conveniently meet the needs of communities.
‘Our stores have a focus on quality products and value for our members and customers, with a great range of deals and promotions on the items shoppers want to buy. I’m delighted to see our first new store of 2026 open in Oxfordshire, as we start 2026 with an active store opening programme to increase and enhance Co-op’s presence in high streets and communities all across the UK.’
