Glastonbury is notoriously tricky to get tickets for, but whispers of an upcoming fallow year made snagging tickets for 2025 that little bit more competitive, and now, it’s been officially confirmed by organiser Emily Eavis that after this weekend, Glasto is taking a break.
So, what actually is a ‘fallow year’? Well, Worthy Farm is, you guessed it, a farm, and the farmland needs to take a breather from having more than 200,000 punters trudging across it every now and then. We’ve rounded up all the information about Glastonbury’s next fallow year and when it will be returning, so read on.

Why isn’t there Glastonbury 2026?
It’s been confirmed by organiser Emily Eavis that 2026 will be a ‘fallow year’, so Glastonbury Festival won’t be taking place.
What is a fallow year?
Every four or five years, Glastonbury Festival takes a break to allow the farmland to recover. Worthy Farm is a 900-acre working dairy farm after all, and when the festival isn’t taking place, the land is home to herds and herds of cows. The previous two fallow years were in 2012 and 2018.
‘We’re taking a fallow year in 2026 to give the land a rest, and the festival before a fallow year is always a fun one to plan because you almost have to fit two years in one,’ said Emily Eavis, according to the Independent.

Has Glastonbury been cancelled in previous years?
Yes. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Glastonbury Festival was cancelled in 2020 and 2021. It returned in 2022, with anyone who originally bought tickets having the option to roll theirs over.
