Very few things can beat a sunny afternoon sipping spritzes in front of a glorious view. Which is why, Edinburgers, we’ve got a treat for you.

Cold Town House is back following a half-a-million-pound makeover. Yep, the al fresco bar in the middle of Edinburgh’s Old Town has reopened to the public, and its upgraded features include a fresh new bar with three service stations, two fireplaces and an extended outdoor terrace.

If that wasn’t enough, it’s also got a swanky retractable roof these days. Cold Town House is up there with some of the best rooftop bars in the whole country, a title it holds in part because of its stunning views of Edinburgh Castle. The new cover feature, which stretches over enough space for 120 people, means you can grab a bev and feast your eyes on the iconic fortress whatever the weather.

Other elements which have helped Cold Town House remain a firm favourite since it opened in 2019 will still be on offer – including stone-baked pizzas and beers brewed in-house. Plus, its new Spring Menu features house baked ciabattas made with Neapolitan pizza dough and a new peanut butter brookie dessert for the sweet-toothed among us.

In keeping with its signature après ski theme, four new booths styled like gondola lifts have been installed in the bar, each of which can seat up to four people. Luckily, with the summer months just ahead of us, you won’t need to wait for snow to enjoy the gorgey view with a couple of drinks in hand.
