The month of February is normally synonymous with a grey skies and chilly temperatures in the UK. But this year, the weather is about to get unusually mild. Yes, you read that right – we could actually experience some warmth this month.

The week ahead is looking ‘dry and settled with increased sunshine’, according to the Met Office. Temperatures will reach 13C in eastern Scotland and southern England, with highs of 15C in the north-west of England on Tuesday.

A Met Office spokesperson said the warm weather is a result of ‘a ridge of high pressure that is building across the country’. Average temperatures at this time of year are usually around 8C or 9C.

Scotland and Northern Ireland will face some heavy rain and windy showers on Wednesday. But in good news for those in England and Wales, the storm will apparently die down as the weather front moves down the country.
