The fast-fashion giant is going physical

Online fast-fashion giant Shein is branching out into the physical world – with a pop-up store and ‘glam’ bus coming to cities across the UK this month.

The clothing titan is notorious for its super-cheap prices and for the definitely very, very high quality of its clothing. It’s also known for its alleged poor treatment of workers (a documentary by Channel 4 found that Shein employees were working 75-hour shifts) and alleged human-rights violations, in addition to apparently ripping off designs from small designers and its environmentally-unsustainable business model.

The brand kicked things off with a pop-up in Birmingham’s Bullring shopping centre from March 24 to 26, and will then be heading to Cabot Circus in Bristol on April 1, with an Easter-themed bus rocking up from 12pm to 6pm, before landing at St David’s in Cardiff on April 2, from 11am to 4pm.

The bus will offer customers the opportunity to preview Shein’s ‘spring edit’, as well as free manicures for each customer along with the chance to win prizes like clothing and make-up.

If you fancy it, you can find out more via Shein’s website. Alternatively, you could always head to one of your local charity shops and see what second-hand bargains you can find, or support a small, sustainable designer and invest in quality clothes that will last. Just a thought.
