We all know coronation chicken, but do you know coronation quiche?

King Charles has shared a recipe on his official social media accounts for a ‘Coronation Quiche’, which is set to be 2023’s version of the staple coronation dish. He’s hoping that Brits will make their own to serve up over the upcoming coronation weekend.

The tart is veggie and made with broad beans, tarragon and spinach, as well as plenty of cheddar cheese. It’s thought to be a plant-based version of one of Charles’s late mother’s favourite dishes, which allegedly appeared on afternoon tea platters at Buckingham Palace for years.

Charles has previously spoken about the environmental impact of meat consumption, so it’s unsurprising he’s gone for a meat-free option. He even revealed two years ago that he eats veggie two days of the week and goes fully vegan for a third.

The palace cooks suggest serving the quiche ‘hot or cold with a green salad and boiled new potatoes’, and they’ve even shared the official, royally-approved recipe, for anyone wanting to rustle one up for their own street party or lunch. Let the era of the Corrie Quiche commence.

ICYMI: The line-up for King Charles’s coronation concert has finally been announced.

Plus: The Brecon Beacons National Park has a new Welsh-language name.
