The budget fashion brand, which was once a store for Zara ‘leftovers’, is coming to the UK this year

Last year affordable clothing chain Lefties officially launched in the UK and in January the company announced its first two British shop locations for Liverpool and Essex. And now we finally know where the brand’s third outpost will be.
Bargain clothing hunters who happen to live near Gateshead’s Metrocentre, we have excellent news. The UK’s second-largest shopping centre will be home to the UK’s third branch of Lefties.
Lefties was launched back in 1999 as an outlet store for Zara leftovers – geddit? Since then, it’s morphed into a standalone shop that offers its own clothing lines and draws in punters across 18 markets. There are stores in Spain, Italy, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Morocco, among many other destinations. Lefties is owned by Inditex, the company behind Zara, Pull & Bear, Bershka and more.
The third store will offer Metrocentre shoppers the chance to get much more bang for their buck, as Lefties boasts prices to rival Primark’s. T-shirts start at about £2.50, while a pair of jeans can set you back a little over £11.
Here are the three British shop locations so far confirmed for Lefties. None yet have an opening date.
Metrocentre is overseen by the property management company Sovereign Centros, which is part of CBRE, the world’s largest commercial real estate company. Sovereign Centros director Ben Cox said of the new announcement: ‘We’re proud to confirm that Lefties are the latest exciting new entrant to commit to Metrocentre. As one of the first Lefties stores in the UK, this is another major endorsement of Metrocentre as a key location for international brands investing in UK retail.
‘Lefties’ trend-savvy offer will be a compelling addition to our retail mix, and this signing, once again, reflects the dominance and appeal of our scheme to both national and international retailers. With our consistent footfall, extensive catchment, and quality retail offer, we continue to stand out as the leading destination in the region.’
