Sixteen pizza chefs from across the UK battled it out for the top prize at this year’s awards

With a nail-biting live cooking showdown and rigorous rounds of judging, the final for the 2026 National Pizza Awards took place in London on Tuesday November 3. Sixteen pizza chefs from across the UK went head-to-head at this year’s event, all vying for the grand prize of National Pizza of the Year.
But that wasn’t the only prize that was up for grabs. There were three other categories in the awards, as well as medals for runners-up in the headline category. As usual, the pizzerias that came out on top were mostly London-based, but there were two places outside of the capital that got their flowers.
Stretch in Hove was the first runner-up in the National Pizza of the Year category. Its silver medal-winning ‘za was ‘The Herd’, which is topped with arrabbiata sauce, fior di latte, cured pork loin, pecorino cheese, extra virgin olive oil and seasonal herbs.
The only other non-London pizzeria that took home a medal was Newcastle’s CIRCO. It won the Alternative Slice Award (handed out to pizzas made with free-from products) for its ‘Hot Like Gigi’ pizza, which features a vodka tomato sauce base, fior di latte, ‘nduja sausage, burrata cheese and a heavy Parmesan crust.
Five Feet, a London pizza place that hasn’t even officially opened yet, won National Pizza of the Year for its Sicilian-style sausage and broccoli creation. Also from London, Indian pizzeria East West won Bloggers’ Choice Award and Bad Boy Pizza Society was second runner-up.
