Have you ever pondered whether it was even possible to own a whole village? Or wondered how much an entire village might cost? Well, it turns out that you can indeed buy a small settlement on the Cornish coast – for the sum of £15.8 million, to be precise.

The Manor of Trevalga comes with 1,200 acres of land, including six farms and 17 houses and cottages. Smack bang between the ancient fishing village of Boscastle and Tintagel, the village is believed to have been a residence of King Arthur in the sixth century.

The 17 houses and six farms were all put in a trust in the 1950s to preserve the future of the village, which is now home to a small community of residents. They are objecting to the sale of the settlement through estate agents Savills because they fear they could be evicted.

Sure, basically none of us could afford to buy an entire village out of our own pocket. But if you fancy soaking up some medieval history, then the Manor of Trevalga definitely sounds worth a visit.

ICYMI: John Lennon’s family home is for sale and it’s cheaper than you’d think.

Plus: you can make train journeys for as little as £1 with Northern Rail’s flash sale.
