We all need a spot of privacy from time to time, and one great way to bag some of that sweet alone time is to go somewhere really remote. And if you’re really into fleeing the rest of humanity? Well, you could soon be the proud owner of one of the UK’s most isolated homes.

The two-storey, three-bedroom cottage isn’t accessible by road and is a 20-minute hike from the nearest parking spot. Located smack bang in the middle of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, this property is about as secluded as it gets – and is now on the market for £300,000.

Left derelict for years, the building has no mains services available and is in need of a serious makeover both inside and out. The home was previously powered by a windmill, with its water supply transported by trailer. Now, it sits completely disconnected from the mains power supply and is a real-life time warp. Where will you be able to charge your phone?!

But there are some extreme perks to living here too. It has stunning views overlooking the Yorkshire Dales and it’s evidently remote enough to avoid being irritated by noisy neighbours or busy roads. Fisher Hopper, the estate agent selling the property, has advised buyers that the nearby parking spot is suitable only for 4x4 vehicles or quad bikes due to the bumpy countryside terrain. The agency called the property an ‘interesting investment’ suggesting it could be turned into a unique (and profitable) Airbnb opportunity for the new owner.

ICYMI: this is officially the happiest place to live in the UK.

Plus: here’s another really isolated property that’s now on the market.
