The Spinney Wild Camping in East Yorkshire has topped Pitchup's list of the best UK campsites in 2025

Sometimes, with everything going on in the world, you’ve just gotta head outdoors, switch your phone off for a couple of days and touch some grass. If you’re looking to reset via a night or two sleeping under the stars, one campsite in Yorkshire could be calling your name.
Booking platform Pitchup has announced the winners of its 2025 Gold Awards, which recognise the best of the best campsites, glamping stays and caravan parks across the Great British Isles.
To qualify for the awards, sites need to have an average rating of at least 8/10 and a minimum of 20 verified customer reviews from 2025, meaning the results reflect genuine guest experiences from the past year.
The Spinney Wild Camping managed to pip the competition to take the title of the UK’s best campsite in 2025, achieving a perfect 10/10 rating across its online reviews.
The East Yorkshire site is perfect for ‘nearly wild’ camping, according to Pitchup. It’s completely off-grid, and even lacks outdoor lighting, meaning torches are a must when the sun goes down. With space for just 10 tents, The Spinney Wild Camping’s capacity is definitely on the smaller side, but it allows campers plenty of space to commune with nature, giving them the option to pitch up either in the woodland or the meadow.
Hammocks, firepits for barbecuing and a hot tub are included in the amenities, as well as a garden room with sofa and games for days when the weather is temperamental. Facilities are simple, but the site does have a compost toilet and running water. Plus, The Spinney is within walking distance of a local pub, which sits beside a canal. With prices starting at £12.50 per person per night, it’s hard to see what more could you need.
The campsite is located just outside of Pocklington, a quaint little town which is famous for its gardens and lakes, and is just a half hour by car from York.
As for the silver and bronze medal-winners at this year’s awards, Owl Valley Glamping in Devon and The Wee Caravan Park in Ayrshire, Scotland ranked in second and third.
The outdoor accommodation booking platform also considered which region is home to the highest number of quality campsites, and southwest England emerged as the top contender. You can find out more about the awards at Pitchup’s website here.
