Spring is here. No, you’re not day-dreaming or wishing upon a star, as of Wednesday (March 20) winter was actually, officially over, and colour is returning to the Earth.

There’s only one appropriate way to celebrate the beginning of the new season, and that’s getting out into nature as it blooms back to life. If you’re wondering where you should go to admire the daffodils and cherry blossoms, the Guardian has compiled a list of the prettiest gardens to wander around this time of year, and they’ve got some cracking suggestions.

For the budget conscious among us, the cheapest on the list is Winterbourne House in Birmingham, which will cost you £8 for entry. The house’s preserved Georgian interior paired with the sprawling garden make it a perfect relaxing day out, and its location makes it accessible to a pretty large portion of the UK population.

Much further north, Attadale Gardens in Wester Ross at the top of Scotland is a good option for early April, as they get Spring a little later all the way up there. The gardens don’t even open back up until next Monday (March 25), and even have a cute little tearoom you can check out during your visit.

Some other picks included Eltham Palace in London, which has an Easter egg hunting trail on to keep the little ones entertained, Penrhyn Castle in Gwynedd, and Glenarm Castle in County Antrim, both of which also offer access to their titular fortresses for some proper medieval escapism.

Whether you’re in the Highlands or Cornwall, there’s a garden near you which is bursting at the seams with bluebells and daisies this time of year. You can read the Guardian’s full list of recommendations here.
